Cam Ward
Cam Ward is a 5th-year senior and 1st-year starter at QB for Miami after transferring from Washington State, where he played in a pass-heavy system. Ward is a long, athletic quarterback with outstanding arm talent. He moves smoothly in and out of the pocket and is fluid in his mechanics. Despite not being an elite runner, he’s effective at navigating pressure and extending plays. He shows good tempo in his dropbacks and is deceptive in his release, making him a challenging player for defenses to contain.
Ward demonstrates strong field awareness and understands how to manipulate safeties with his eyes. While not possessing elite deep-ball accuracy, he can attack leverage and exploit mismatches, using his quick release and natural arm talent. He has legitimate arm strength and the ability to layer throws with touch and velocity. His mechanics are clean, and he can adjust off-platform to deliver accurate throws
